Capital/Mohawk PRISM Mission and Goals
Mission Statement:
The Capital-Mohawk Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management is a collaboration of diverse stakeholders that prevents, detects, and controls invasive species through direct management action and education and communication. Our motivation is to protect biodiversity, the natural environment, the economy, and quality of life for citizens of our region and New York State.
Direct Management Action Goals:
- Coordinate partner efforts
- Assist partners and other stakeholders in the early detection of and rapid response to newly introduced invasive species
- Assist partners and other stakeholders in the management of targeted invasive species using best management practices
- Support research in the control of invasive species
Education and Communication Goals:
- Provide education on the consequences of the introduction and spread of invasive species
- Elicit participation in preventing the introduction and spread of invasive species
- Facilitate communication among partners on invasive species issues
- Coordinate information exchange across PRISM boundaries
- Highlight successful invasive species control activities
