MISSION STATEMENT

CRISP: The Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership is a voluntary, cooperative partnership of diverse stakeholders from throughout the Catskill Mountain Region. CRISP is one of eight Partnerships for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM) formed across New York State.

CRISP promotes prevention, early detection and rapid response, and in limited areas/cases, broader control of invasive species to protect natural resources. In addition to conducting public outreach and management activities, CRISP will support research about ecological impact and effective controls of invasive species. CRISP Upcoming Events

Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)and Asian Long-horned Beetle (ALB) Identification and Survey Workshop August 3 - August 5, 2010, Newburg

CRISP will be hosting this 3-day EAB and ALB identification and survey workshop from Tuesday August 3rd through Thursday August 5th. The workshop will be held in Newburgh, NY; transportation will be provided from pick-up locations along Rt. 28. Lunch will also be provided.

Tuesday morning will be devoted to classroom instruction with speakers from NYS Dept. of Ag and Markets and the USDA CAPS program. Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday and Thursday will be hands-on field surveys of industrial hubs around Newburgh. These hubs are likely introduction points for the region and are important places to survey.

More information and the agenda for the instructional portion of the workshop will be posted on the CRISP webpage on the Catskill Center website soon.

It is important that CRISP members and Catskills residents are trained in the latest survey techniques so that we can mount an early detection effort for these dangerous forest pests. If you can not commit to the full 3-day training, please consider coming for Tuesday's instructional portion.

Spaces are limited so please RSVP soon. For any questions feel free to email mtaylor@catskillcenter.org or call 845-586-2611. Please share the flyer with anyone who may be interested.
